Water freezing in the lines will rupture the pipes and make them useless for the next season. If you are uncomfortable doing this work yourself arrange for a maintenance contract to close the system in the fall and re-open it in the spring. Underground sprinklers are a great way to ensure that your lawn gets enough water and all areas of the lawn are covered.
